One page websites

Will Google index a one page lander with an article of unique content and a couple of AdSense boxes? Or does it need to be a multi-page website?

I know I'll need backlinks and etc - assume all of that is there, will the site still get indexed and rank with only one page?

Yes,the site will be indexed by Google. The problem is that google is checking the site updates everyday...If there are no updates your site is losing searching result rank.As I said you have to update your site evryday to get good ranking.
- I think that a 1 page site is not a good idea at all... :S

I'd stay far away from one-page websites in my opinion. Even 5 or 6 page's is better than just one, lol. You figure that one page can only target maybe three keyphrases max..Build five or six pages and you can target a good 15-20 keyphrases with just one site!

It's always advisable to try to have more than just one page. If you manage to rank that one page well and you start making money from it, just imagine the extra money you could be making if you had 3, 4 or more pages on that site all ranking well for their specific keywords.

It's true, one will get you by. But do you really want to just get by? I think the whole idea of these feeder sites is to get ahead. So now that you own the domain and you started the site on it show Google or whoever else that you are better than the rest and show some good work. Frequent and quality updates will get you to the top so now it's time to show your stuff.
